Fierce, intelligent and fucked-up, this track has seriously destroyed dancefloors for nearly a year on dub-plate. It now finally sees its official release for maximum carnage. A 2 ScanOne > [ FBI Smash ] A mutant electro / breakbeat track aimed at peak-time dancefloor damage. Fabrica starts off with crisp edits and glitches that swiftly build into a solid, robotic groove that rolls along confidently, leading up to the drop: a ludicrously intense machine-gun bassline. The interplay between its heavy sub-bass explosions and chopped machine beats makes for a fierce, yet intricate track that finds its home in the sets of DJs such as Tipper, Si Begg, Radioactive Man and The Dexorcist. B 1 ScanOne > [ Kik It ] A dubstep / grime track with an electronica twist: It begins with a solid, side-winding rhythm injected with immense subs and rudeboy basslines that quiver the air like jelly. Dark pads and atmospheres house rasping, dis-embodied voices that flitter around your head like demons, coming up close then darting away. The track rolls along in this tense, crushing atmosphere until it unexpectedly opens up with majestically sad, Autechre-style strings that shine a sickly yellow light within the darkness. Unlike some dubstep tracks that leave you dangling in between the basslines, Kikit's rhythms and edits complement each other so well the track seems effortless. B 2 ScanOne > [ Belfaster ] Drawing upon the rich seams between Electro, breakbeat and electronica, Belfaster's rhythm pulses and stutters relentlessly like a hail of bullets, weighed down by compressed bass drums and FX trickery. Grinding, Aphex Twin-style didgeridoo basslines complete the insistent, heads-down groove as everything charges along until the drop: movement is momentarily suspended as the track opens up into sombre wartime strings like rainfall on a battlefield. It then drops back into the stuttering groove and rolls out to a finish.
